Dedicated to the memory of Barbara Berridge

Barbara sadly passed away on 27th January after a long battle with cancer. She will be very much missed by us all, her daughters Claire and Charlotte, her grandaughters Esme and Iona and all the wonderful friends she made over the years.

Barbara’s funeral will be held on 22nd February 2022 at 11am at Banbury Crematorium. Please find the full details below. Please can you let Charlotte or Claire know if you will be attending.

As there will only be family flowers please consider making a donation to Katharine House Hospice in Barbara’s honour instead. Katharine House looked after Barbara in her final weeks and so it is a cause very close to the families hearts.

There will be a wake after the funeral service where friends and family can continue celebrating Barbara, this will be held at Brackley Rugby Club.

Thoughts

The Vegas Girls It started with a single trip But what a place to start. With an organiser like no other, Barbara fully embraced the part. We took off to Las Vegas The name then quickly stuck. We all got along so famously Which was a stroke of luck. We made a wonderful new friend In Liz who joined the crew. Our travels became annual, Something to look forward to. Flights over the Grand Canyon, Belaggio Hotel stays. Whizzing off to Bologna, To sample the Bolognese. Berlin - the remainder of the wall And the beautiful Brandenburg Gate. Flamenco dancing in Seville The memories - all so great. A special trip close to Barbara’s heart Was like a visit to her past. To Yorkshire and York Minster Betty’s Tea Rooms for repast. A cable car in Dubrovnik Nothing was too much trouble. Sightseeing extraordinaire And always, at the double! So much to see, so little time Barb certainly gave her best. Safe to say she definitely Put all our feet to the test. But what wonderful times we had She really did us proud. We’d sometimes go off the beaten track, others just follow the crowd. But she’d arrange everything from A to Z With a very strict itinerary! Golden times shared with such dear friends We’d hoped the journey would never end. So sad then, that we’ll travel no more She will be missed - so much, for sure. The ultimate tour guide to the end. Safe journey to our much loved friend.

I love this poem...Barbara, you were such a big part of our lives, we will carry you in our hearts. Diane. "You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on."
